Personal Profile

 

Vanessa Lai is a Registered Psychologist with the Hong Kong Psychological Society (Division of Industrial‑Organisational Psychology), supporting both individual mental health and organisational wellbeing. Her work integrates counselling with evidence‑based workplace psychology, enabling her to support clients across personal, relational, and professional contexts. She founded PsychCare Psychological Services to promote mental health and raise awareness of prevention, offering counselling, psychotherapy, and workplace wellbeing programmes.
 

She works with adolescents through to older adults, providing individual and group counselling and psychotherapy for a wide range of emotional distress and psychological concerns. This includes stress, anxiety, low mood, depression, panic attacks, addiction issues, and other life challenges, as well as supporting those navigating career and life transitions.

In addition to therapeutic practice, Vanessa provides consulting and training for organisations, including employee wellbeing programmes, leadership development, and performance management. She is certified in a range of personality and psychometric tools such as NEO, MBTI, OPQ, Hogan, and CAL, applying them to both individual development and organisational contexts.

Before fully dedicating herself to psychological practice, Vanessa spent over 15 years in senior leadership roles across international retail organisations, including serving as Retail & Operations Director with APAC regional responsibility. This experience in business strategy, talent development, and training enables her to bring a practical and commercially informed perspective to her psychological work.

Vanessa also serves as a part‑time lecturer, teaching psychology, counselling, and business‑related courses at various tertiary institutions. In addition, she delivers workshops and talks on leadership, consumer psychology, stress management, and mental health awareness for schools and organisations.
